What Film Means To Me

*clap**clap* Film Review

Hello everyone, my name is Edward Velky and welcome to Film Review. I am currently a freshman at Cleveland Early College High School. I was born in New York and my family stayed there until I was 7, when my family and I moved to Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Being the youngest of 4 children, I grew up watching movies that weren’t really meant for children my age. Most of the movies were not that bad until a couple of years ago, when my youngest brother turned 18, so he started watching higher rated films. Multiple years ago my mother started Family Movie Night every Saturday which we did for about 5 years. I really like comedy films such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Billy Madison, and Bedtime Stories. I also like horror movies like IT and Child’s Play and action films like Avengers (I am proud to say that I have seen every Marvel film in the Avengers timeline). I dislike most romance movies and western movies, but I do like a few. Whenever I think of movies, the biggest three that jump out are The Princess Bride, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Bedtime Stories.

I believe that good CGI and other augmented reality animation styles are very interesting. There are special abilities that are proven by all CGI movies. For example, in the movie Jason and the Argonauts, there is no CGI, there are small clay skeleton figures that they used. Although, in movies now like Detective Pikachu, the CGI is blended into the background really well. I also like low-income movies because it requires the moviemakers to use resources and not have multiple products that are placed into the movie, annoying multiple watchers and especially annoying me. I also believe 3D movie animation is also interesting because it was a large step in animation.

  1. Throughout the semester, we will explore reasons why people are drawn to all types of films (including westerns and romantic films). Monty Python is a true classic; great choice.

This semester; we’ll explore a lesson on special effects that I believe you’ll find interesting.
